Historical simulator: invested capital vs. money left idle
Money left untouched may feel safe, but over time it can lose purchasing power. This simulator shows what would have happened in the past to the same amount left in cash versus invested in an indicative market or profile.
Guided simulation
What would it be worth today?
Enter an amount, choose the period and select a reference market. The calculation compares invested capital with the same money left idle, adjusted for Swiss inflation.
The result is educational: it uses historical data, not forecasts. Past returns, costs, taxes, currency, exact investment date and personal profile can change the result.
The hypothetical amount at the start.
Estimated nominal investment value.
Value adjusted for inflation.
Purchasing power of the non-invested amount.
Real value lost by idle cash.
Difference between investment and idle cash.

Why real value matters
Nominal value shows how many francs you would have today. Real value asks a more practical question: what would those francs actually buy after inflation?
Why it is not a promise
The past helps explain the mechanism, but it does not guarantee the future. Each decision depends on goals, time horizon, risk, costs, taxation and personal situation.
Data sources and updates
The simulator tries to use live data at the time of the calculation. When retrieval succeeds, the browser temporarily stores a local copy: if a source does not respond later, the simulation can reuse saved data before falling back to a prudent estimate. The result shows the data mode, latest market point, latest inflation point and calculation time.
